Who doesn’t know them? The Three Investigators. At least in my generation – born in 1972 – everyone has grown up with the radio plays and books of the Three Investigators Justus Jonas, Peter Shaw and Bob Andrews from Rocky Beach. The speakers of the German radio plays Oliver Rohrbeck (Justus “Just” Jonas), Jens Wawrczeck (Peter Shaw) and Andreas Fröhlich (Bob Andrews) have already achieved cult status a long time ago.
Right now the stories of the Three Investigators are having a revival at my home. Because my daughter started to be interested in their radio plays and books. Much to my delight, as it gives me the opportunity to revive a part of my own childhood and youth. So very rarely a day ends without listening to at least one episode of the Three Investigators.
And also the books of the Three Investigators have recently become an integral part of our vesperine “going to bed” ritual. My daughter insists that I read at least two chapters.
Currently we’re reading the volume “The Three Investigators and the lost pilot” (unfortunately not available in English). Not only that the book is super exciting, it also holds a surprise – a recipe for farmer’s scrambled eggs à la Bob Andrews.
Who would have thought that?! The Three Investigators as a source of culinary delights. I have to admit, however, that reading the “recipe” to my daughter felt a bit strange. Also my daughter was briefly irritated.
Unfortunately, all quantites are missing, excepting the eggs. But good so. Otherwise it would have become even more strange. And so I have improvised with the quantities. And added a little extra. For the simple reason that the Three Investigators aren’t only well known for their serendipity and their power of deduction, but also for their remarkable appetite.
What can I say?! Ok, it doesn’t look that delicious. But it absolutely tastes great and fills very well.

The Three Investigators and the lost pilot
“The three investigators are delivering a car for Uncle Titus. But a dense fog forces them to look for an emergency shelter. A strange pick-up driver leads them to a run down-hotel.
